Our Work
Our Process
During the mapping process, facilitators, community leaders, front line staff, and people with lived experience collaborate to achieve three primary objectives:
- Map the local systems serving accompanied children experiencing homelessness including resources, gaps, and opportunities.
- Develop priorities based on community input and gain agreement from CHIME participants on the priorities to action plan.
- Develop action plans to make measurable improvements on coordination of services for homeless children and families.
CHIME leverages the experience and research behind two evidence-informed practices:
Sequential Intercept Model
The Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) is a framework and tool to facilitate cross-systems collaboration.
Aspen Institute’s 2Gen Framework
2Gen approaches build family well-being intentionally and simultaneously working with children and their caregivers together.
2Gen approaches align opportunities to help families pursue their goals and thrive, optimizing each person’s potential along the way.
Core Dimensions of 2Gen
With children as the target population, CHIME maps the Boston systems and policies in place across the Ascend Network’s six domains that support a family’s self-sufficiency.
CHIME holds one workshop for each of the six domains. Click here to learn more.

Workshops
Facilitators convene leaders for six, two-day interlocking convenings to map and plan services in each gear and their intersections with the other five gears. Volunteer implementation groups emerge from the convenings, with a leadership summit to chart progress after two years.
